Just to say a genuine and heartfelt thank you to anyone who bought a copy of Issue One or Two, either online or face to face. We’ve been overwhelmed by how bloody nice everyone has been to us. If we shuffle awkwardly and stare at our trainers when you’ve complimented us, sorry about that – such body language means, ‘thank you’.
We are working on Issue Three already: it should see the light of day sometime in February/March. After the difficult second album, we are looking for the perfect hat trick: left foot, right foot and a towering back post header that beautifully arcs over the keeper and plops into the goal by the foot of the post.
We don’t know what 2017 will bring in terms of our football club but naturally, we all hope for something better. It’s been hard supporting this club in recent times but then again, no one said it would be easy. If we wanted the easy life, we’d have given up going circa 2004 and pottered around the garden on Saturday afternoons or watched Soccer Saturday down the pub. But we didn’t and whether you are a regular attender or you watch anguished from afar, you are still here – still taking an interest in yours and our football club, still there, still caring. Hats off to you.
We can’t make the pain and frustration go away – neither can our friends Forza Garibaldi or the Supporters’ Trust. We can’t prevent players getting injured or tell Kasami to shoot in a manner in which his knee is fully over the ball, thus minimising the chances of his effort spooning high over the crossbar. We are just fans that like to write things about football in the vain hope that someone somewhere will take a moment to read and not froth uncontrollably with rage.
What we can and fully intend to do is to keep going. It’s your fault really – if you keep being nice to us and buying issues, such behaviour just encourages us. We do intend to offer digital downloads of back issues and to offer a subscription package – just bear with us, we’re still very new to this game.
So, season’s greetings to you all and once again, thank you.
Phil, Sean, Steve, Dave
