For Issue Two, we’re exploring the theme of revenge. Revenge, in any form or capacity… from getting one over the United fan who annoyed you at school, to Forest fluking promotion over Doncaster in 2008 (if you grew up in Doncaster). Growing up in a family full of Leeds fans, and being at Elland Road for the 7-3 or wishing bad things happen to someone or some club for sound or very trivial reasons. That type of thing.
Or maybe it’s even revenge that someone’s enjoyed over you, because of Forest? Maybe YOU were the subject of it?
However big or small you want to make your story – whether it involves you, your brother, your sister, or an entire city – we’re throwing the floor open to you. We’re looking for 1000 – 1500-word pieces, and having judged for yourself the tone of the first issue, you should by now have a decent idea of the kind of thing that we’re looking for.
If you have an idea brewing, send us an email in which you outline your idea and preferably, provide an opening paragraph: email@example.com
As well as the above, Issue Two will be packed with interviews, feature pieces and some new and exciting ideas. Not only do we have the hard copy format but we also have this website on which to showcase material. We look forward to doing exactly that.
It is with a great deal of excitement that we launch the first issue of Bandy & Shinty tomorrow. You will be able to buy copies before and after the match in the Trent Navigation pub on Meadow Lane and we look forward to seeing you there. It is incredible that a conversation in a pub 4 months ago has become a real, tangible and, in our honest opinion, beautiful thing and we hope that Forest fans will enjoy and ultimately treasure it.
So, it is time for some much needed thanks to be distributed, as this wouldn’t have been possible without a whole bunch of people.
Thanks to all of the contributors who gave up their precious time to write when the reality of this project was as far away and wayward as a Franz Carr cross: thank you for your faith in us.
Thank you to Paul White and AJ Rowley at Hickling & Squires for aiding in the printing process. Thank you to Andy Hallam at Great Northern Inns for supporting with distribution. Thank you to Mark Godfrey at The Football Pink for his support and advice. Thank you to our partners and families for tolerating us and our big schemes. Thank you to Jonathon Wilson for producing The Blizzard, a publication that inspired us to produce this.
Finally, a genuine and heartfelt thank you to you…yes, you, for showing interest in what we have been doing and (hopefully) for parting with your hard earned cash to purchase the magazine. It means a huge deal to us.
